Welcome to Panganayi Farm
Panganayi Farm is primarily a Boran Stud enterprise established in 2006. Our core practice involves the immaculate and controlled mating of cattle and the detailed birth notifications of progeny where the parents are recorded with the Zimbabwe Herd Book. Our thrust is in understanding cattle genetics i.e. the sire and dam summaries of our Boran lines (both born on farm and imported in from other farms in Zimbabwe and South Africa) which include Expect Progeny Difference (EPDs), heritable traits, selection exercises, and forecasting genetics of the future. The farm is delightfully tucked within the farming landscape at the border of Marondera and Hwedza. Recently built onto the farm are holiday homes, a hideaway to experience Agrotourism in Zimbabwe.
What We Do
BORAN
STUD
“My love for the Boran breed was brought about through sheer coincidence, as a startup Cattleman in 2006 I quickly realised that the Boran crosses in my herd exhibited outstanding performance as compared to the other cattle breeds (temperament, early calving and keeping good condition). For me, the Boran Breed was and still is a Breed I Can Count On” - Mussolini Ganyo.
HOLIDAY HOMES AND CAMPING
We are uniquely positioned to give you the opportunity to catch a glimpse of farm life whilst enjoying some quietude, fresh air and a real sense of farm destination in a luxurious fashion. The experience is packed with activities ranging from the farm to touristic amusement activities such as low-impact hiking in un-spoilt nature, indigenous tree hunting, quad-biking, volleyball, board games and bream fishing.
NGUNI
SHEEP
In an effort to promote one of the local sheep breed which is suffering from genetic erosion, we rear the indigenous Sabi sheep of Zimbabwe which are a fat-tailed hair breed with similar features to the Red Maasai in Kenya and Tswana, Pedi and Zulu sheep of eastern and southern Africa which all fall under the Nguni sheep.
AQUACULTURE
In our semi-intensive aquaculture (open pond system) we do not hatch our own fish but our waters are stocked with fry or fingerlings and later be harvested with nets for sell or through leisure fishing.
BOER GOATS
The Boer goat breed is known for large frame size, high growth rate, and carcass attributes. Thus, at our farm we run a goat enterprise based on this breed and its crosses, eyeing both its productivity and financial benefits.
CULTURE CENTER
Our goal is to create awareness, to strengthen our Shona cultural heritage, to showcase our uniqueness and to teach about our traditions directly from our team comprised of our local village elders. As well as showcase their local artistry.
